It's short, dark, and handsome all the way for this Fire Demon! His name's Hiei, and if you've got a problem with it, too
bad. He unwillingly goes by the nicknames Shrimp, Shorty, etc. His age and birth date are unknown, though it is certain that
he was born in the Ice Country of Makai to an Ice Maiden named Hina. This child was definitely out of the ordinary, as Ice
Maidens only gave birth to girls which were also Ice Maidens. The baby was dubbed a Forbidden Child and was dropped from a
cliff by another Ice Maiden, Ruri. Before she dropped him, she gave him his mother's Ice-Tear Gem, one of the two tears Hina
had shed while giving birth to him and his twin, and Ruri told him to return to the Ice Country someday to take his revenge
on the Ice Maidens. Though he was only a baby, the child understood her, and then he fell from the sky down to the land teeming
with demons below. Luckily, he was found by a group of thieves and was named Hiei, and as he grew up he learned how to fight.
When he lost his Ice-Tear Gem, he decided that if he wanted to find the Ice Country and his Ice-Tear Gem, he would need a
Jagan eye. So he went to a plastic surgeon named Shigure to have it implanted. After the operation, he lost a great deal of
his energy and became a low-level demon. Shigure taught him some sword-fighting techniques, and then sent him on his way.
Hiei found the Ice Country abandoned, and suddenly all desire for revenge left him. He encountered Ruri, and she explained
to him that Hina had died a long time ago and that her daughter, Hiei's twin sister Yukina, had gone to search for her long-lost
brother. He then went to the Human World to find her, and this was where he met Kurama. Sometime later, Hiei stole the Shadow
Sword from Spirit World and defended his prize valiantly when Spirit Detective Yusuke Urameshi came to retrieve it; ultimately,
Hiei was defeated. After that, he began to reform his ways, and now lives a quite ordinary life in New York...or at least
as ordinary as it gets for a pyromaniac who can produce flame at will.
